USA.vs.Spain-DavisCup-20070407-0771James Blake (21), Sam Querrey (22), Jesse Witten, John Isner and Andy Roddick (5) have all reached the third round of mens singles. The fifth-seeded Roddick and big serving Isner face off against each other.

Let’s hope and American can go all the way!

This picture isn’t of the five in the third-round :) It’s from the US vs. Spain Davis Cup match. But I like it!

Here’s what Roger Federer’s road to a third-straight slam could look like:
1ST ROUND – Devin Britton USA
2ND ROUND – Simon Greul GER
3RD ROUND – Lleyton Hewitt AUS (31)
4TH ROUND – James Blake USA (21) or Tommy Robredo ESP (14)
QUARTER FINAL -Nikolay Davydenko RUS (8) or Robin Soderling SWE (12)
SEMIFINAL – Andy Roddick USA (5) or Novak Djokovic SRB (4)
FINAL – Rafael Nadal ESP (3) or Andy Murray GBR (2)

Should be exciting! The tournament kicks off on Monday!

GALL_DAY3_SS2_gallery__470x313If you were going to build the perfect tennis player, the forehand seems like a good place to start. It’s safe to say my forehand would not be in the discussion. So who has the greatest forehand of all time?

Here are my choices:
Roger Federer
Pete Sampras
Rod Laver
Rafael Nadal
James Blake
Andre Agassi

I’m going to say Roger Federer.

davis cup-717042The USA was playing sans Andy Roddick, which of course would have helped based on how well he is playing right now. Croatia beat the USA 3-1 in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, with James Blake losing a pair of matches. The Bryan brothers came through in the doubles as is the usual.

So counting men’s and women’s singles and doubles, that makes 8 finalists. But I didn’t really care who the Williams played in the doubles final, so before the tourney started I picked the 7 finalists I wanted and the only one I didn’t get was the men’s doubles team of James Blake and Mardy Fish. I was hoping for an All-American doubles final against the Bryan Brothers.
