Here are my US Open predictions:
• Federer wins it all.
• Fish makes a deep run.
• The Bryan brothers dominate but get no tv time because people don’t realize how much fun doubles is to watch.
• Both Williams sisters reach the semis and one wins it all… but their outfits get more attention than their play does.
What do you think?
When teaching tennis to kids and having youngsters hit tennis balls on several different courts, I find myself often flinching at shadows of what appear to be tennis balls heading towards my face from another court. These shadows are often from birds and it can be quite embarrassing.
Here are a few suggestions for those who are interested in getting into the tennis business, especially young people:
• Volunteer with your local parks department.
- This is a great way to get your foot in the door for tennis instruction.
- Working at a tennis tournament will teach you a lot.
• Volunteer as a high school coach.
- It can get your foot in the door of your local tennis community.
- It can lead to you teaching private lessons.
- Ultimate having a paid high school coaching job.
• Work at a tennis store.
- Contact with your tennis community.
- Contact with tennis company reps.
• Learn how to string rackets.
- Everyone needs their racket strung, from a beginning junior to Roger Federer.
I have some favorite indoor tennis courts in a cool industrial building and they may soon be replaced by a brewery. To understand how much I really don’t like this, consider the fact that I don’t drink alcohol! Bummer!!!
If I were promoting tennis, I’d have John Isner all over the place and make him a household name!
Has Rafael Nadal surpassed Roger Federer as the greatest player on the planet? Another Wimbledon win, he is in the final of certainly helps his case.
Roger Federer just lost @ Wimbledon, is he just another great player now and no longer the dominating force he has been for so long?
Serena Williams (1 seed) is the only American left in the singles draws of Wimbledon. A handful of American women are still in the doubles and the Bryan brothers are alive and well in the men’s doubles.
